Files placed in the "www" folder will be visible from your website. Files placed outside the "www" folder will not be visible from your website. Q: I don't receive email with some attachments A: Our mail systems block any attachment with potentially damaging content such as .pif .bat .exe .com or .scr files. There is a 10Mb limit for attachments sent or received. Q: I am not receiving e-mail A: Log into webmail for your domain and check that you have cleaned out your deleted items folder. Also check ALL other folders for mail and delete it if necessary. Checking the checkbox underneath 'Current folder' will select all mails - then click on delete. Q: Forgetting to add http:// in the webforwarding field A: The URL text that is entered into the Web Forwarding field (My Domains tab, Maintain a Domain, Edit Domain Name Properties, Use Web Forwarding) must contain HTTP:// at the beginning of the URL. Q: Not using the CNAMEs for the (Mail Server) MX Records A: When completing the MX Records (My domains drop down tab, Maintain a Domain, Manage your own DNS Zone File, Original DNS Manager Interface (advanced users), for Sub Domain Alias, you enter an IP address instead of a CNAME e.g. "Mail" and "Mail2", for the 2 Mail Servers. Q: Expecting DNS Changes to be carried out through Freeparking when another ISP is managing your Domain Name A: Run a "WHOIS" command on your Domain Name. If the "Registrant's Agent" or "Technical Contact" is Freeparking Domain Registars Inc. or Fibranet Services, and the "Name Servers" are listed as ns1.ukdnsservers.co.uk and ns2.ukdnsservers.co.uk or ns3.ukdnsservers.co.uk and ns4.ukdnsservers.co.uk, then we are managing your Domain. If you see some other entry for "Registrant's Agent", "Technical Contact" and/or "Name Servers", then it is likely you have another ISP managing your Domain. Q: Not waiting long enough for DNS Changes to propagate throughout the network A: New domain registrations can take between 24-48 hours to become visible around the Internet - please be patient. If 48 hours has passed and you still cannot find your Domain Name, please raise a support call. Q: Transferring-in a Domain to Freeparking too close to the Renewal Date to avoid the Renewal Fees from your existing ISP A: Unfortunately, if the renewal date is too close to the transfer date (less than 1 month usually), we WILL NOT be able to renew the Domain for you. Also transferring the Domain into our control systems does not include the renewal fee. Apologies, but this is how the registrar system works and it is not our choice. Q: You can't PING your Domain Name A: We deny all ICMP traffic to our networks. This increases security and prevents Denial of Service (DOS) attacks. PING will therefore NOT return a response. You can find more information on ICMP here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Control_Message_Protocol Q: Unable to Log-in to your web space via FTP or Telnet A: Please go to http://host.freeparking.co.uk to set up your domain for a free 60 day of our hosting systems and for all the information you need regarding uploading your files to the web. |
