Q: How do I change the Name Servers for a .COM .NET or .ORG Domain?

A: From the maintenance page select '.com, .net, .org Domain Name Modification'. This section allows you to modify the details held by CORE or INWW for your International Domain Names (.com, .org, .net).

You can change the DNS entries (the Domain Name Servers) effectively moving the Domain Name to another ISP or Hosting company. INWW Domains are modified in real time, CORE Domains are modified by a batch process.

Q: How do I transfer a Domain Name out?

A: Much depends upon the system you wish to transfer your Domain out to.

If you are transferring a .uk Domain to another host you can simply use the "release this domain to another ISP" section of the Maintain a domain menu.

If you are transferring another Domain type such as .net, .org., .com etc you will need to obtain an auth code. This code is held by us and you will need to raise a support ticket at http://support.freeparking.co.uk and we will supply the means.

Once you have the code you must unlock the domain name via the Maintain a Domain menu and ensure that your details are visible in whois (i.e. if you have the privacy set up you must remove it).

Don't forget that by using the Freeparking DNS Manager you should never need to transfer a Domain to another ISP. You can simply change the zone file to point your Domain Name to a new web server or mail server, and still keep ultimate control over your Domain Name.

Q: I want to change the IPSTAG on my .uk domain.

A: If you are transferring a .uk Domain to another host you can simply use the "Release a UK Domain Name to another ISP" section of the Maintenance page.

Don't forget that by using the Freeparking DNS Manager you should never need to transfer a Domain to another ISP. You can simply change the zone file to point your Domain name to a new web server or mail server, and still keep ultimate control over your domain name.

Q: I want to change the Name Servers.

A: The Maintenance page of the Freeparking members area has several options to allow you to enter the new Name Server information and automatically change DNS information in the Domain registrar's WHOIS database.

Q: Name Servers amended but are not resolving yet.

A: Please note that changing information in DNS manager does NOT change the Name Servers. Please read all options on the maintenance screen closely to establish which option to use to change the Name Server information.

Once Name Servers have been amended in the Domain Registrars WHOIS database, you should allow approximately 36 - 48 hours for the Domain Name information to be propagated around the Internet.

Q: .UK IPSTAG form submitted but IPSTAG not changed yet.

A: The "Release a UK Domain Name to another ISP" function sends a request to the Nominet Automoton to release the name to another ISPSTAG.

If an invalid IPSTAG was used the request will fail.

Changes to the Nominet WHOIS can take up to 24 hours to complete, and a further 36 hours for the Domain Name to propagate around the Internet.

Don't forget that when using the Freeparking DNS Manager, you should never need to transfer a Domain to another ISP. You can simply change the zone file to point your Domain Name to a new web server or mail server, and still keep ultimate control over your Domain Name.
